Recto/Verso #9 © Robert Heinecken
Robert Heinecken's work is classified as neither pure collage nor pure photography, and for this reason he has been called a "photographist". His pieces involve overlapping images, colors, and textures that create complex expressions of emotions and ideas.
Techniques
The Recto/Verso series consits of photograms made with neither a camera nor film. A page from a magazine was placed on color photographic paper and then exposed to light, resulting in overlapping images from both sides of the page. No other techniques were used.
